Sew Excited…

2011 July 5

I’ve sewn a quilt or two in my day but not without the helpful hand of my Mother (and the use of my Mother’s sewing machine).  Combine my lack of necessary equipment with a lengthy 7-year sabbatical from sewing and I’d say I’m right back on square one.

Which is why I went ahead and ordered a very basic, simple, and cheap sewing machine so I could give this hobby another test drive. I found this Michley machine for $35.99 and all of the reviews say it is a great machine for the amateur seamstress—it’s easy to use and works well for simple projects and light fabrics.

I’ve also been on the hunt for easy sewing projects and helpful visuals like the one above. Most sewers fail to understand the importance of Thread Tension, so for a full article on it click here.  I’m sure there will be more posts about my sewing successes/failures in the near future, wish me luck
