I was really late to the TOMS party. I always convinced myself that there was no way they were as comfortable as people claimed…but once I had my first pair (which wasn’t until last summer) I knew the rumors were totally true. Most comfortable shoes ever. Now I’m scoping their site eyeing some of the cute new designs and really itching to make a few of them mine. Below are a few of the Classics currently on my lust list.
OUTFIT: Wallis Anchor & Stripe Sweater ($35.00), AE Zipped Pocket Short ($40.00), Ted Baker Flocon Summer Bloom Shopper ($59.34), TOMS Classics in Navy ($44.00), Kendra Phillip Rope & Anchor Earrings ($32.00), butter LONDON Lacquer in Kerfuffle ($15.00), POP Lip Stain in Peach Pucker ($16.00).
TOMS: Tangerine ($54.00),Floral ($54.00), Snow Leopard ($54.00), Purple Dot ($54.00), Ikat ($54.00), Metallic Dot ($54.00).
Dresses and flats sound so good right now after last night’s fresh snowfall (and extreme winds). No matter what mother nature throws at me, she can’t keep me from thinking about spring on my blog or insties.
Dorothy Perkins Aztec Dress ($69.00), Michael Kors Saffiano Leather Bag ($248.00), Lucky Brand Ester Flats ($44.99), Anna’s Rounded Cat Eye Sunglasses ($12.00), Deborah Lippmann nail lacquer Groove is in the Heart ($17.00), Stila All Day Liquid Lipstick ($22.00).
Last night’s Oscars did not disappoint. But if you didn’t tune in, this is what you missed in the way of entertainment: Channing Tatum ballroom dancing with Charlize Theron, a number of extremely inappropriate jokes courtesy of Seth MacFarlane, and J. Lawrence hitting the ground in Dior (literally) as she accepted her Oscar for Best Leading Actress.
And here is the recap of Red Carpet Trends: structured sequins and back baubles. The photo above doesn’t even begin to tackle the list of stars who wore a sequined gown—most of which had a very 1920s/flapper/art deco feel (you can add Sandra Bullock and Jessica Chastain to the list of favs).
Last night’s leading ladies (Jennifer Lawrence– best leading actress & Anne Hathaway—best supporting actress) appeared to have called each other before the big show: each wearing pale pink and showcasing the continuing trend of back baubles (but don’t get me started on the front of Anne’s dress, woof).
In other news, Kristen Stewart and Selma Hayek are currently battling for top place on my 2013 worst dressed list. Seriously, Selma, that hair.
Awards shows are a pretty big event at our house…there’s martinis, fancy dessert and ballots. We get fiercely competitive, and rightly so because there’s a lot on the line—-a 20 minute massage! So, in case you want to fire up a contest of your own I’ve provided you with our printable ballot for this year’s Oscars. Just visit Scribd and click the “download or print” button on the right. Be sure to find me on Twitter so we can chat about what the stars are wearing! For lots of red carpet coverage (as well as trailers and clips of all the nominees) be sure to download the Official Oscars App.
We’re finally weeks away from our Spring vacation so the outfit planning can now commence. We always try to travel with carry-ons, which requires a lot of strategic planning for me (along with hoping Josh fails to fill his suitcase so I can sneak some stuff in his.)
Kate Spade Grove Court Maise Floral Print Satchel ($318.00), Warehouse Drape Jacket ($93.00), Zadig & Voltaire T-shirt Tino ($185.00), Hudson Jeans Bacara ($198.00), Kate Spade Tiny Flat ($198.00), J. Crew Braided Belt ($24.50), Linda Farrow Aviators ($310.00), Lazy River Straw Feddora ($9.99), Nails Inc., Polish in Neon Coral ($17.00), Tom Ford Lip Color in True Coral ($48.00), Pyramid & Pearl Pendant Necklace ($315.00).
Silly me, posting about rain gear when we got another 5 inches of snow in Wisconsin last night (insert loud sigh). On the upside, we’re finally settled into our new home, my beloved new couch was delivered, and life is slowly returning to normal. More on that later.
Miss Selfridge Hooded Jacket with Plaid Lining ($100.00), Abercrombie & Fitch Straight Jeans ($54.60), Michael Kors Jet Set Tote ($280.00), Michael Kors Rainboots ($89.00), People Tree Trinity Socks ($16.00), Totes Automatic Umbrella ($20.00), Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette ($27.00), OPI Polish in Coney Island ($8.00), Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte in Nude Beige ($34.00).
I always end up investing in a lot of dresses over the winter. Which I know seems weird, especially since I live in Wisconsin, where yesterday we experienced -20 wind chills. And by “we” I mean the rest of the state, because I stayed in my house bundled in layers. Anyways, when winter starts to wind down I pair my favorite dresses with jackets + flats for casual events and date nights.
Miss Selfridge Petites Biker Jacket ($91.00), Miss Selfridge Petites Jacquard Skirt ($61.00), Digi Spike Loafer ($198.00), Bench Kerana Ribbed Beanie ($24.00), Buxom True Hue Blush in Euphoria ($24.00), MAC Lipstick in Fresh Salmon ($15.00), Proenza Schouler Cross Body Bag ($1,325.00).
Consider this your warning: Spring has sprung (as far as this blog is concerned). I figured there is no time like a 9 degree day to start creating warm weather inspiration.
ASOS Pale Pink Skinny Jean ($34.30), ASOS G-Star Denim Shirt ($96.75), H & M Floral Scarf ($7.94), HarLex Pouch Bag ($253.00), Merona Mabli Moccasin Loafers ($24.99), Eugenia Kim Darcy Fedora ($72.00), Linda Farrow Luxe Sunglasses ($573.00), Laura Mercier Nail Lacquer En Pointe ($18.00), Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte in Nude Beige ($34.00).
